Chevrolet Camaros are on a tear in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series! At the April 7th Cook Out 400, Camaros dominated Martinsville Speedway, sweeping the top 3 positions. This victory marks the Camaro's fifth win in just eight races this season, solidifying their early season lead.

Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron took the checkered flag in his #24 Camaro, adding a second coveted "Martinsville Grandfather Clock" trophy to his collection. The win was even more impressive with his Hendrick teammates finishing a strong 2nd and 3rd, making it an all-Camaro podium.

On a day where passing was at a premium, the #24 Camaro stood out as the only car consistently making moves throughout the field - a feat none could replicate even with the assistance of their bumper. Starting the day in 18th place, Byron wasted no time clawing his way towards the top of the leaderboard.

After maintaining prime position for most of the day, the #24 didn't seem to be in a spot to win - that is until an uncharacteristic round of late race green flag pit stops would give the #24 Camaro team their chance to pounce. Byron's #24 pit crew busted off a lightning-fast sub-10-second stop for four tires, bringing Byron right to the bumpers of teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, who had dominated the day up to that point.

Wasting no time, Byron quickly capitalized on the maneuverability of his car, easily passing his Camaro teammates and seizing the lead for the first time on lap 327, only relinquishing it once, for one lap, leading 87 of the race's final 88 laps that included a thrilling overtime finish!

This win holds special significance for Hendrick Motorsports, who hosted an enormous crowd of employees, family, and friends in honor of their 40th Anniversary.  Hendrick's first win came at Martinsville in the spring of 1984, a win that would keep Hendrick Motorsports in business and a day that would change the landscape of the sport for generations to come.

Byron's statement win only further strengthens the impression of the 2024 NASCAR Cup season as a "Chevrolet Camaro Club" with five wins in just eight races.  While nothing can ever be guaranteed in the world of motorsports, it is almost a sure bet that the competition will have to go through the Camaros if they want to be the 2024 Champion.
