The Mid-Engine Camaro is Coming in 2023
At the beginning of the month, Chevrolet made a big announcement regarding the 2023 Camaro. Much like the legendary C8 Corvette, the 2023 Camaro will sport a mid-engine layout, adding a second mid-engine sports car to the Chevrolet line-up.
So, what's in store for the Camaro's V8 engine? Car Buzz has reported that it is likely Chevrolet will downsize the engine, offering a turbocharged four-cylinder and V6 options. Otherwise, the Camaro would compete against the mid-engine Corvette, in which case you'd be likely to just get the Corvette.
The rumor mill is buzzing that an all-electric Camaro is likely in 2023, making this new mid-engine Chevrolet option a smaller and lighter version compared to the Corvette. It may even offer a manual option, unlike the Corvette.
Several renderings have popped up on the internet, including a video posted by 3D designer and animator, Rostilav Prokop. The configuration is possibly the most believable we've seen. It combines the front end and rear fascia of the 2019 Camaro with the C8 Mid-Engine Corvette.
