Fan Friday: The Journey of Bumblebee
Every Camaro has a story, but few can rival the tale of Bumblebee, a remarkable 2010 ZL-575 built by SLP Performance, now known as Specialty Vehicle Engineering. This car’s journey begins with John Parsons, a dedicated car collector with a passion for Camaros. When he decided to auction off his collection in the summer of 2013, Bumblebee was among the prized possessions looking for a new home.
Bumblebee was sold to Randy, a car dealer in Phoenix, Arizona, after John’s extensive collection went under the hammer. After some back-and-forth on eBay Motors, our customer seized the opportunity to bring Bumblebee home. The original owner paid a sticker price of $69,995, but thanks to some savvy bidding, he acquired Bumblebee for just $47,000 with only 51 miles on the odometer.
To collect this beauty, our customer made the drive from their home to Arizona in a Chevy SSR, trading it in as part of the deal. Bumblebee became an integral part of their collection until they decided to trade it for a 2018 Chevy ZL1-1LE Camaro. Unfortunately, that ZL1-1LE faced a tragic fate when it was wrecked badly by its new owner from Arkansas.
Fortunately, fate intervened again. The auction company recognized Bumblebee's unique value and refused to part it out, putting it up for sale instead. Without hesitation, our customer bought Bumblebee back, ensuring that this remarkable piece of automotive history remained in the family. Today, Bumblebee is not just a car but a cherished family heirloom that continues to make memories.
In addition to Bumblebee, our customer proudly owns a stunning 2017 Yenko Camaro, boasting a whopping 800 horsepower and one of only 35 units built.
