For the 66th time, the roar of engines will echo at Daytona International Speedway as this Sunday's Daytona 500 unfolds. No stranger to victory lane, Chevrolet boasts a record 25 victories in the legendary "Great American Race", including last year's thrilling triumph by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in his Camaro ZL1. However, as NASCAR's biggest race looms and the season begins, the Camaro's final generation in 2024 casts a shadow of uncertainty on the iconic brand's future in the sport.

This year marks the final chapter for the Camaro, at least in its current form. With Chevrolet's future plans in NASCAR remaining under wraps, speculation runs rampant. Rumors have suggested the Corvette or Malibu wouldn't be entering the Cup Series, leaving no apparent sedan substitute for 2025 and beyond (as of now).

NASCAR rules permit teams to utilize car models beyond their current production year, allowing Chevrolet to extend the Camaro's legacy into 2025. However, industry-standard typically favors showcasing current showroom models on the track, making this extension less likely.

While official confirmation is absent, and all speculation is exactly that, a switch to another GM brand, Cadillac, appears increasingly plausible. As whispers of a new manufacturer joining NASCAR gain momentum, the possibility of Cadillac also entering the fray with their powerful CT5-V doesn't exactly seem like a pipe dream.

Although the future remains anything but clear, Chevrolet remains determined to reclaim its dominance in 2024. Team Chevy's sights are set on a record-extending 26th Daytona 500 victory, in addition to a 43rd Manufacturer's Championship and 34th Driver's Championship in the NASCAR Cup Series.

As if the pageantry, history, and prestige of Daytona's hallowed banks wasn't enough of a pressure cooker itself, this year's 500 takes on added significance, potentially marking the final lap in the Daytona 500 for both Chevrolet and the beloved Camaro.

Don't miss this historic moment! Witness the Chevrolet Camaro chase glory on the high banks of Daytona this Sunday, February 19th, at 2:30 PM EST on your local Fox affiliate.
