Camaro Wins in Wine Country | CamaroStoreOnline.com
Larson, a California native, started the day in 5th place, surviving an early rash of crashes and varying strategies in the race's opening two stages to put himself in position for the Final Stage. Larson took the lead for the first time on Lap 71 and continued to lead until his final scheduled pit stop on Lap 80. Larson would cycle out deep in the pack and seemingly out of contention with drivers Chris Buescher and Martin Truex now battling for the lead nearly a full mile ahead. Larson, however, had a secret weapon no one imagined would matter on a freshly repaved Sonoma – fresh tires.
With Buescher and Truex tossing jabs for the lead, Larson methodically stayed his course and masterfully ran the leaders down. Once on their bumpers, Larson let his rivals wear each other down until opportunity struck on Lap 102, taking the lead and never looking back. Larson's veteran driving secured his 26th career NASCAR Cup Series win, his 3rd win of the season, and most importantly, put him back on top of the points leaderboard.
This victory isn't just about another chapter in the story of Larson's already legendary career; it's another in a series of commanding statements about the power and performance of the Chevrolet Camaro. This win marks the 8th victory for a Camaro now 16 races into the 2024 season.
