Photos show a different vehicle's shift knob; the process is the same.
Step 1. Pull the knob straight up off the shifter. It takes force, so keep your face clear of it.
Step 2. Remove any insert or plate on top of the knob.
Step 3. Cut the old cover off along its seams with a hobby knife.

Step 4. Start at the bottom: turn the new cover inside out, fold the bottom edge about 3/8", line the seams up with the grooves in the knob, and work the cover up with your fingers so the seams sit in the grooves.

Step 5. It gets tighter near the top, so work slowly, alternating front and back.

Step 6. Work curved seams from both sides toward the center so they tuck in snugly.
Step 7. If a seam won't line up with its groove, start over (but not too many times, or the leather can loosen).

Step 8. Wrap the leather into the top opening, making small V-cuts so it lies flat without overlapping.

Step 9. Apply leather adhesive around the top and inside the opening, press firmly, and hold until it bonds.

Step 10. Reinstall any plate or insert you removed.

Step 11. Glue around the bottom of the knob and fold the leather over the bottom edge.
Step 12. Reinstall the knob.
Leather care: apply a leather conditioner with UV protection every 4-6 weeks to keep it from drying out and cracking.
